Abstract
ABSTACK This study aims to determine the extent of the influence of GRDP, labor force participation, and education levels on income inequality in Western Indonesia, using the perspective of Islamic economics as the primary analytical framework. The data for this study were sourced from Indonesian government reports published by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which were then processed using a quantitative approach via the Panel Data Regression method with three specifications, including the Common Effect Model (CEM) test, Fixed Effects Model (FEM) test, and Random Effects Model (REM) test; the best model was selected using the Chou test, the Harsman test, and the Lagrange Multiplier (LM) test. Additionally, a Classical Assumptions test, specifically a Normality test, was conducted. Hypothesis testing was then performed using the F-test, the partial t test, and the coefficient of determination (R²) test. Based on the test results, the model selected in this study is the Random Effects Model (REM). The results of the study indicate that, in part, the GRDP variable has a positive and significant effect on income inequality, whereas the labor force participation and education level variables do not have a significant effect on income inequality. From the perspective of Islamic economics, economic development focuses not only on economic growth, but also on the creation of justice and the equitable distribution of welfare among the people. Islam emphasizes the importance of fair income distribution through the principle of social justice and Islamic economic instruments such as zakat, infaq, and sadaqah, so that welfare can be enjoyed equally and excessive inequality does not arise in society. Keywords: GRDP, labor force participation, education level, income inequality, Islamic economics.
