Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematika dan citra negatif matematika pada siswa SMP. Berdasarkan data PISA dan berbagai penelitian terdahulu, cukup untuk melihat bahwa terdapat permasalahan pada pemahaman konsep dan citra matematika siswa. Hasil ini didorong oleh data pra penelitian yang dilaksanakan oleh peneliti di SMP 31 Bandar Lampung. Dimana hasil menunjukkan mayoritas siswa tidak menyukai Pelajaran matematika. Dan di dorong oleh hasil tes pemahaman konsep yang juga memperlihatkan perlu adanya perhatian khusus. Hasil tes pemahaman konsep menunjukkan hanya 18 siswa yang mampu menuntaskan kkm dari total 70 siswa yang di berikan soal tes pemahaman konsep. Atas dasar inilah peneliti menawarkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) sebagai Solusi untuk menjawab permasalahan pada citra matematika dan pemahaman konsep siswa. ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the low understanding of mathematical concepts and the negative image of mathematics among junior high school students. Based on PISA data and various previous studies, it is sufficient to see that there are problems in students' understanding of mathematical concepts and images. This result is driven by pre-research data conducted by researchers at SMP 31 Bandar Lampung. Where the results showed that the majority of students dislike mathematics lessons. And driven by the results of the conceptual understanding test which also showed the need for special attention. The results of the conceptual understanding test showed that only 18 students were able to complete the KKM out of a total of 70 students who were given conceptual understanding test questions. Based on this, the researcher offers the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach as a solution to address problems in students' mathematical images and conceptual understanding.
