Abstract

ABSTRAK Low students' mathematical conceptual understanding and environmental care attitudes remain challenges in the learning process. Mathematics learning is expected not only to improve students' cognitive abilities but also to foster environmental awareness as an essential aspect of character development. Therefore, an instructional model that integrates mathematical concepts with contextual environmental issues is needed. One alternative is the Canva-assisted Eco-Math learning model, which utilizes interactive digital media. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Canva-assisted Eco-Math learning model on students' mathematical conceptual understanding and environmental care attitudes based on biological sex. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasiexperimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 1 OKU Timur in the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample was selected using the simple random sampling technique, resulting in Class VIII.4 as Experimental Group I, Class VIII.7 as Experimental Group II, and Class VIII.6 as the Control Group, which was taught using the Deep Learning model. The research instruments consisted of a mathematical conceptual understanding test and an environmental care attitude questionnaire, both of which were tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using a Two-Way Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the Canva-assisted Eco-Math learning model had a significant effect on students' mathematical conceptual understanding. In addition, the model also had a significant effect on students' environmental care attitudes. However, no significant differences were found in students' mathematical conceptual understanding or environmental care attitudes based on biological sex. Therefore, the Canva-assisted Eco-Math learning model can be considered an effective instructional alternative for improving students' mathematical conceptual understanding and environmental care attitudes regardless of biological sex.
