Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep serta komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis terlihat dari kesulitan peserta didik dalam mengaitkan konsep-konsep yang telah dipelajari dengan situasi nyata, serta minimnya keterlibatan aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik juga tergolong rendah, di mana peserta didik tidak menggunakan bahasa matematis yang tepat saat berdiskusi. Hal ini menunjukkan perlunya model pembelajaran yang lebih efektif, yaitu Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) yang dapat mendorong peserta didik untuk terlibat aktif dan memahami konsep secara mendalam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasy Experiment dengan desain posstest-only control group. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes soal uraian untuk mengukur kemampuan pemahaman serta komunikasi matematis peserta didik yang diberikan setelah pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan hasil analisis data menggunakan uji MANOVA dengan taraf signifikansi diperoleh hasil hasil kesimpulan (1) Terdapat pengaruh dari Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis, (2) Terdapat pengaruh dari Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis, (3) Terdapat pengaruh dari Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep serta komunikasi matematis. Kata kunci: Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs), Pemahaman Konsep Matematis, Komunikasi Matematis iii ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the effect of the application of Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) in improving students’ concept understanding and mathematical communication skills. The low mathematical concept understanding ability can be seen from the difficulty of students in linking the concepts that have been learned with real situations, as well as the lack of active involvement in the learning process. In addition, students’ mathematical communication skills are also low, where students do not use appropriate mathematical language when discussing. This shows the need for a more effective learning model, namely Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) which can encourage students to be actively involved and understand concepts deeply. The research method used was Quasy Experiment with posstest only group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely esperimental class and control class which were selected using cluster random sampling technique. The instrument used in this research was in the form of description question test to measure students’ mathematical understanding and communication skills given after learning. Based on the results of the research and the results of data analysis using the MANOVA test with a significant , the results concluded (1) There is an effect of Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) in improving understand mathematical concepts skills, (2) There is an effect of Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) in improving mathematical communication skills, (3) There is an effect of Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) in improving understand mathematical concepts and mathematical communication skills.
