Abstract

ABSTRACK The objectives of this research were to analyze and describe the lexical and structural ambiguity that found in the soundtrack song lyric of Aladdin Movie 2019 and to analyze and describe the causes of ambiguity in the soundtrack song lyric of Aladdin Movie. There were five songs from the Aladdin movie soundtrack namely a whole new world, speechless, friend like me, prince Ali and one jump ahead. The research methodology in this research was Descriptive Qualitative. The instrument of this research was the researcher herself who interpreted the research qualitatively. In analyzing the data, the researcher used steps of research namely data reduction, data condensation, data display and conclusion drawing. The source of data was taken from the last version of Aladdin movie that published in 2019. From the result, it was obtained that there were five English songs form the soundtrack of Aladdin movie that consisted of 16 words of lexical ambiguity. The words that caused multiple meaning in this research were show, open, crystal, close, hold, shooting, wash, drowned, go, like, make, meet, show, ahead, broke, open. Meanwhile, the structural ambiguity sentences were; I can open your eyes, through an endless diamond sky, let me share this whole new world with you, here comes a wave meant to wash me away, to shut me or cut me down, here I go, heavy ammunition in your camp, let me take your order, make way for Prince Ali, you yummy boy, one jump ahead of the lawmen, and wish me happy landing. The causes of this ambiguity were the ascription of multiple meanings to single iii words and the sound of words. Therefore, it can be concluded that the analysis of ambiguity is important because it enables people to know kind of words or sentence that might caused different meaning.
