Abstract
ABSTRACT Students’ reading comprehension ability in English learning remains low, particularly in identifying main ideas, understanding vocabulary, finding detailed information, identifying references, and making inferences. This study aimed to determine the improvement in students’ reading comprehension after using Canva and examine its effect on eighth-grade students at MTs N 4 South Lampung. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental NonEquivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 64 students, with 32 students in the experimental group and 32 students in the control group. Data were collected through a 20-item multiple-choice reading comprehension test and analyzed using N-gain, normality and homogeneity tests, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test. The findings showed that the experimental group’s mean score increased from 62.66 to 82.88, with an N-gain of 0.56 (56.32%), while the control group increased from 61.88 to 75.78, with an N-gain of 0.34 (34.36%). The experimental group showed a significant improvement (t = -15.304, df = 31, p < 0.001), and the post-test scores differed significantly between groups (t = 2.965, df = 62, p = 0.004). It can therefore be concluded that Canva significantly improved students’ reading comprehension. These findings imply that Canva can serve as an effective digital medium for English reading instruction
