Abstract

ABSTRACT Reading comprehension is an important skill in learning English that serves as the foundation for learning English. However, preliminary research has found that students‘ reading comprehension ability at Gajah Mada High School in Bandar Lampung is low, many students struggle to understand the content of texts. The lack of teaching media in the learning process is one of the factors contributing to students‘ low reading comprehension. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine whether there is a significant influence of using the Nearpod as a teaching media on students‘ reading comprehension in the 10th grade at Gajah Mada High School in Bandar Lampung for the 2025-2026 academic year. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasiexperimental design. The population consisted of all 10th-grade students at Gajah Mada High School in Bandar Lampung, totaling 200 students and the sample comprised 2 classes with a total of 65 students selected using cluster random sampling. Class 10-3 as the experimental class with 30 students and Class 10-5 as the control class with 35 students. The experimental class received treatment using Nearpod. Pre-tests and Post-tests in the form of multiple-choice questions were administered as the research instruments. Data analysis in this study was conducted using SPSS and the independent samples t-test. The research results show an improvement in reading comprehension among students in the experimental class, as shown by a significance level (P-value) of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. This indicates that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the use of Nearpod has a significant influence on the reading comprehension of 10th-grade students at Gajah Mada High School.
