Abstract
Abstract Adolescence represents a vulnerable transition period characterized by heightened emotional turmoil, wherein emotion regulation is vital for mitigating psychological distress. Accordingly, this study synthesizes empirical findings on adolescent emotion regulation in single-mother households. Utilizing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, primary literature published from 2020 to 2025 was retrieved from major databases, such as Google Scholar, APA, Scopus, Semantic Scholar, and Taylor & Francis. The search strategy applied the PCC framework to target the relevant population, emotion regulation concepts, and single-mother family contexts. Upon quality assessment via the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), 16 studies were selected for narrative synthesis. Results reveal that paternal absence compels adolescents to adapt quickly. Crucial determinants of successful emotion regulation include high family functioning through authoritative parenting, secure maternal attachment, and cognitive reappraisal. Ultimately, these findings serve to eliminate negative social stigmas associated with single-mother households and foster supportive, empowering psychological interventions Keywords: Adolesence.
