Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Pictorial Riddle terhadap pemahaman konsep IPAS peserta didik kelas III SD Negeri 1 Langkapura. Pemahaman konsep adalah proses, perbuatan, cara memahami ide-ide materi pembelajaran, dimana peserta didik tidak sekedar mengenal dan mengetahui, tetapi mampu mengungkapkan kembali konsep yang lebih mudah dimengerti serta mampu mengaplikasikannya. Rendahnya pemahaman konsep peserta didik mendorong perlunya penerapan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterlibatan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis quasi experimental design dan desain Posttest Only Control Design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Simple Random Sampling. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas, yaitu kelas ekperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Pictorial Riddle. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes pemahaman konsep IPAS, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji Independent Sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penerapan model pembelajaran Pictorial Riddle terhadap pemahaman konsep IPAS peserta didik kelas III SD Negeri 1 Langkapura Bandar Lampung. Peserta didik yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model Pictorial Riddle menunjukkan pemahaman konsep IPAS yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang men ngikuti pembelajaran menggunakan model Guided Inquiry. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Pictorial Riddle dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran yang efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik, khususnya pada pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) di sekolah dasar. ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the effect of the Pictorial Riddlelearning model on the understanding of IPAS concepts among third-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Langkapura. Concept understanding refers to the process of comprehending learning materials in which students not only recognize and know concepts but are also able to restate them in a more understandable way and apply them in different situations. The low level of students’ conceptual understanding indicated the need for a learning model that could improve both conceptual understanding and student engagement in the learning process. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasiexperimental design with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was Simple Random Sampling. The research subjects consisted of two classes, namely an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class was taught using the Pictorial Riddlelearning model, while the control class was taught using the Guided Inquiry learning model. Data were collected through an IPAS concept understanding test, and the data were analyzed using normality testing, homogeneity testing, and the Independent Sample ttest. The results of the study revealed that the implementation of the Pictorial Riddlelearning model had a significant effect on the understanding of IPAS concepts among third-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Langkapura, Bandar Lampung. Students who participated in learning activities using the Pictorial Riddlemodel demonstrated a better understanding of IPAS concepts than those who were taught using the Guided Inquiry model. Therefore, the Pictorial Riddlelearning model can be considered an effective alternative instructional strategy for improving students’ conceptual understanding, particularly in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning at the elementary school level.
