Abstract

This Research tittled “The Influence of Using Project Based Learning on Reading Comprehension of Decsriptive Text: An Experimental Research At the Ninth Grade of MTS Ismaria AlQur‟aniyyah in the Academic Year of 2025/2026. This research used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study consisted of 86 students, and the sample was divided into two classes: an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class was taught using Project-Based Learning, while the control class was taught using a conventional method. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test. The results showed that the mean score of the pre-test in the experimental class was 47.39 and increased to 81.09 in the post-test. Meanwhile, the control class showed lower improvement. The result of the Mann–Whitney U test indicated that the significance value was < 0.001 (p < 0.05), which means that the null hypothesis (H₀ ) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁ ) was accepted. It indicates that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control classes after the treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Project-Based Learning has a significant positive effect on students‟ reading comprehension of descriptive text. This method can improve students‟ understanding, engagement, and learning outcomes in reading activities.
