Abstract
ABSTRACT The rapid growth of e-commerce has led to highly competitive promotional strategies, one of which is the flash sale program on the Shopee app. This study aims to determine the effect of the flash sale program on impulse buying behavior and to examine this phenomenon from a sharia business perspective among Shopee-using students at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. A flash sale is a promotional strategy that offers limited-time discounts to encourage consumers to make spontaneous purchases without prior planning. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The study population consisted of UIN Raden Intan Lampung students from the 2017–2023 cohorts who use the Shopee app. The sample comprised 100 respondents, determined using the Slovin formula with simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted by distributing an online questionnaire (Google Form), and the data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with the assistance of the SmartPLS 4 software to test the effect of flash sale programs on impulse buying behavior. The results of the study show that flash sale programs have a positive and significant effect on the impulse-buying behavior of college students who use Shopee. The more attractive the flash sale program offered, the greater the tendency for students to make impulse purchases. From a Sharia business perspective, flash sales are permitted as long as they do not contain elements prohibited in Islam. However, consumers are advised to exercise self-control, prioritize their needs, and avoid excessive consumption in order to comply with Sharia principles. Keywords: Flash sale, Impulse Buying, Shopee, Islamic Business.
