Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of investment knowledge and herding behavior on investor decisions in the capital market from the perspective of Sharia Business Management for Generation Z in Bandar Lampung City. The background of this study relates to the increasing number of young investors, particularly Generation Z, who do not necessarily have adequate investment knowledge and tend to engage in herding behavior or imitate other investors. This can impact the quality of investment decisions. Therefore, investment knowledge and behavior are crucial elements in making rational and sustainable investment decisions. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of Generation Z respondents in Bandar Lampung City using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results show that investment knowledge has a positive and significant influence on investor decisions, suggesting that the greater an individual's understanding, the better the decisions made. Herding behavior also has a positive and significant impact, indicating that the tendency to follow other investors also influences Generation Z's decisions. From an Islamic business perspective, investment decisions are not only profit-oriented but must also adhere to the principles of fairness, transparency, and avoidance of riba (usury), gharar (evil deeds), and maysir (gambling). Therefore, investment knowledge and controlling herd behavior are crucial to ensure rational decisions that align with Islamic values. Keywords: Investment Knowledge, Herd Behavior, Investment Decisions, Generation Z, Islamic Business.
