Abstract

ABSTRAK Peran orang tua merupakan fondasi utama dalam membentuk karakter, nilai, dan kualitas generasi. Dalam perspektif Al-Qur‟an, orang tua tidak hanya bertanggung jawab memenuhi kebutuhan biologis anak, tetapi juga membimbing, mendidik, dan menanamkan nilai-nilai keimanan sebagai bekal kehidupan. Namun, berkembangnya fenomena childfree sebagai keputusan individu atau pasangan untuk tidak memiliki anak secara sadar dan sukarela menghadirkan dinamika baru dalam cara pandang masyarakat terhadap keluarga dan peran sebagai orang tua. Fenomena ini dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, seperti perubahan nilai sosial dan budaya, kondisi ekonomi, serta pengalaman traumatis pada masa lalu. Di sisi lain, Al-Qur‟an memandang anak sebagai amanah, ujian, sekaligus bagian penting dalam keberlangsungan nilai-nilai keimanan dan generasi. Berangkat dari kondisi tersebut, penelitian ini berupaya menjawab pertanyaan bagaimana konsep peran orang tua perspektif Al-Qur`an dan bagaimana relevansinya terhadap fenomena childfree. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep peran orang tua perspektif Al-Qur`an serta relevansinya terhadap fenomena childfree. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dan menggunakan metode tafsir tematik (maudhu’i). Sumber data utama penelitian ini adalah ayat-ayat AlQur‟an yang berkaitan dengan peran orang tua, yang didukung oleh kitabkitab tafsir, hadis serta literatur ilmiah yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Al-Qur‟an memandang peran orang tua secara holistik, meliputi fungsi sebagai pendidik, pengasuh, dan penanam nilai tentang pentingnya keturunan. Peran tersebut dibangun di atas nilai-nilai tauhid, kasih sayang, tanggung jawab, dan keteladanan. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa fenomena childfree dipengaruhi oleh faktor perubahan nilai sosial dan budaya, pertimbangan ekonomi, serta trauma masa lalu. Dalam konteks tersebut, peran orang tua dalam perspektif Al-Qur‟an memiliki relevansi sebagai upaya preventif dalam membentuk pemahaman yang positif tentang keluarga, pengasuhan, dan pentingnya keberlanjutan generasi. Dengan demikian, peran orang tua tidak hanya berfungsi dalam pembinaan anak, tetapi juga dalam menjaga keberlangsungan nilai-nilai keimanan dan kemaslahatan antargenerasi. ABSTRACT The role of parents is fundamental to the development of the character, values, and overall quality of future generations. Perspective of the Qur‟an, parents are responsible not only for fulfilling their children's biological needs but also for guiding, educating, protecting, and instilling faith-based values as the foundation of their lives. However, the emergence of the childfree phenomenon, in which individuals or couples consciously and voluntarily choose not to have children, has introduced new dynamics in society's perceptions of family and parenthood. This phenomenon is influenced by various factors, including changing social and cultural values, economic conditions, and traumatic experiences in the past. Meanwhile, the Qur‟an regards children as a trust (amanah), a test, and an essential element in preserving faith-based values and ensuring generational continuity. Against this background, this study addresses the following research questions how is the concept of the role of parents from the perspective of the Qur‟an and how is this concept relevant to the childfree phenomenon. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the Qur‟anic concept of the role of parents and its relevance to the childfree phenomenon. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research design with a thematic Qur'anic exegesis (tafsir maudhu'i) approach. The primary data sources consist of Qur'anic verses related to the role of parents, complemented by Qur'anic exegesis, hadith, and relevant scholarly literature. The results reveal that the Qur‟an presents the role of parents as a holistic concept encompassing their responsibilities as educators, caregivers, protectors, and transmitters of values concerning the importance of family and generational continuity. These roles are grounded in the principles of tawhid, compassion, responsibility, and exemplary conduct. The study also finds that the childfree phenomenon is influenced by changing social and cultural values, economic considerations, and past traumatic experiences. In this context, the Qur‟anic concept of the role of parents is relevant as a preventive framework for fostering a positive understanding of family, parenting, and the importance of generational continuity. Therefore, the role of parents extends beyond raising children; it also contributes to preserving faithbased values, ensuring generational continuity, and promoting intergenerational well-being.
