Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to find out whether there was a significant influence of Strip Story media toward students’ descriptive text writing skill at the first semester of the tenth grade at MAN 2 Bandar Lampung. Writing is an important language skill used to communicate ideas, feelings, and information in written form so that readers can understand the message clearly. In teaching writing, teachers need appropriate media to help students develop and organize their ideas. One of the media that can be used is Strip Story. Strip Story is an activity in which students arrange sentences or story sequences through interaction and discussion with their classmates. This media helps students generate ideas, organize sentences, and improve their writing skills. This research used a quasi-experimental design and was conducted at MAN 2 Bandar Lampung. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students. The sample was selected using cluster random sampling, consisting of class X.A as the experimental class and class X.D as the control class. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test and analyse using a t-test through SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The result of the research showed that Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001 < α = 0.05. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that Strip Story media had a significant influence on students’ descriptive text writing skills at the tenth grade of MAN 2 Bandar Lampung.
