Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh jumlah penduduk, rata-rata lama sekolah, dan tingkat partisipasi angkatan kerja pemuda terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi dalam perspektif ekonomi Islam di Pulau Sumatera tahun 2015–2024. Pulau Sumatera memiliki potensi sumber daya alam dan sumber daya manusia yang besar, namun Pertumbuhan ekonomi masih menunjukkan kesenjangan antar provinsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis regresi data panel yang mengabungkan data time series dan cross section serta diolah menggunakan aplikasi Eviews 13. Data yang digunakan merupakan data sekunder tahun 2015–2024 yang diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) dan sumber resmi lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial jumlah penduduk dan rata-rata lama sekolah berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi. Sementara itu, tingkat partisipasi angkatan kerja pemuda berpengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi. Secara simultan, ketiga variabel tersebut berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di Pulau Sumatera. Dalam perspektif ekonomi Islam, manusia dipandang sebagai khalifah yang memiliki tanggung jawab dalam mengelola sumber daya, meningkatkan kualitas diri melalui pendidikan, serta berperan produktif dalam pembangunan ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, pertumbuhan ekonomi tidak hanya ditentukan oleh jumlah penduduk, tetapi juga oleh kualitas pendidikan dan produktivitas tenaga kerja dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan dan kemaslahatan masyarakat. ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the effect of population, average years of schooling, and youth labor force participation rate on economic growth in the perspective of Islamic economics in Sumatra Island in 2015-2024. Sumatra Island has a large potential of natural resources and human resources, but economic growth still shows a gap between provinces. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression analysis method that combines time series and cross section data and is processed using the Eviews 13 application. The data used is secondary data in 2015-2024 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other official sources. The results showed that partially the population and average years of schooling had a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Meanwhile, the youth labor force participation rate has a positive but insignificant effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, the three variables have a significant effect on economic growth in Sumatra Island. In the perspective of Islamic economics, humans are seen as caliphs who have the responsibility to manage resources, improve their quality through education, and play a productive role in economic development. Therefore, economic growth is not only determined by population, but also by the quality of education and labor productivity in realizing the welfare and benefit of society.
