Abstract

ABSTRACT Children with disabilities are children who experience developmental obstacles, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or socially, so that they require special handling and education that is appropriate to their needs. One type of disability that is quite often encountered is blindness. Blind children have limitations in receiving visual information, but still have potential, interests, and talents that can be developed if they receive the right attention and educational services. The Mata Hati Bandar Lampung Education Foundation is an institution that provides integrated educational services for children with special needs, including guidance and counseling services as an effort to develop the interests and talents of children with disabilities, especially the blind. This study aims to determine how the implementation of guidance and counseling services in an effort to develop interests and talents in children with disabilities at the Mata Hati Bandar Lampung Education Foundation. This study is a field research that is descriptive qualitative. Primary data sources consist of 1 head of the foundation, 2 guidance and counseling teachers, and 4 blind children. While secondary data is obtained through written documentation, photos, and other supporting references. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the implementation of guidance and counseling services in developing the interests and talents of blind children at the Mata Hati Bandar Lampung Education Foundation was carried out through three main stages. First, the planning stage which includes identifying children's interests and talents, formulating service objectives, preparing materials, and compiling implementation and evaluation strategies. Second, the implementation stage which includes the implementation of individual and group counseling services, skills training activities according to children's interests, and providing ongoing motivation and coaching. Third, the evaluation stage which aims to measure the effectiveness of the service and provide follow-up to children's development. This service has been proven to be able to provide a positive impact on blind children, such as increasing self-confidence, the emergence of motivation to learn and be creative, and growing awareness of their potential.
