Abstract
ALFIATU HALWA This study investigates the effect of using Grammarly, an artificial intelligence tool, on students’ accuracy in writing descriptive texts in the eighth grade at MTs Mathla’ul Anwar during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study aims to determine whether Grammarlyassisted instruction significantly improves students’ writing accuracy compared to conventional teaching methods. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two groups: an experimental class (n = 22) taught using Grammarly, and a control class (n = 20) taught without Grammarly. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests focusing on five writing components: content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. The results showed that the experimental group’s mean score increased from 65.50 in the pre-test to 89.00 in the posttest, while the control group’s mean score increased from 62.75 to 75.00. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between the two groups, indicating that Grammarly had a positive effect on students’ descriptive writing accuracy. The study concludes that integrating Grammarly into English writing instruction can enhance students’ grammatical accuracy, foster independent learning, and support more effective teaching strategies in secondary education.
