Abstract
ABSTRACT News about identity politics has become a highlight in various mass media, including Lampung Post, along with the increasing social and political polarization in Indonesia. This study aims to examine how news about anti-identity politics in the Lampung Post Daily is formed and constructed through discourse analysis. The background of this study is based on the increasingly complex socio-political dynamics that are colored by the use of identity politics as a political tool, which often causes conflict and division in society. Mass media, as one of the instruments for forming public opinion, has an important role in presenting and influencing readers' perceptions of identity politics issues. The type of research conducted by the researcher is qualitative descriptive with the Teun A. van Dijk discourse analysis method. This study uses the Teun A. van Dijk discourse analysis method which emphasizes three dimensions of analysis: text, social cognition, and social context. This approach is used to understand how the text structure, discourse production process, and social context of news about anti-identity politics are presented by the Lampung Post Daily. Text analysis is carried out to see the choice of words, use of metaphors, and narrative structures used in the news. Social cognition is identified to understand how the news is produced and received in the newsroom and the wider community. Meanwhile, the analysis of the social context aims to reveal the power relations and ideologies that influence the news. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the Lampung Post Daily tends to frame the issue of anti-identity politics by focusing on the narrative of national unity and harmony, and criticizing the practices of identity politics that are considered to threaten social stability. In addition, the news is also intended to educate the public about the dangers of identity politics and the importance of maintaining social harmony. This shows that there is an effort by the media to take a position as a guardian of social harmony as well as an agent of public education. This study concludes that the construction of the anti-identity politics discourse in the Lampung Post Daily cannot be separated from the broader socio-political context and is influenced by certain ideologies and interests that seek to shape public opinion according to the desired narrative. Keywords: Discourse Analysis, Anti-Identity Politics.
