Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to describe students' perceptions of the use of Iask.AI in academic writing, particularly among English Education students at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. The presence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is increasingly being utilized in academic activities, including to assist in the writing process such as organizing ideas, designing the structure of writing, drafting, and revising. Iask.AI is one of the platforms that is often used by students because it can provide assistance that is considered practical and relevant to academic writing needs. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Eight English Education students were selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria, including active student status, experience using Iask.AI for academic writing assignments, and willingness to participate in the research. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and direct observation. The interview tool was developed based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) proposed by Davis (1989), covering perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude toward use, and behavioral intention. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the research show that students feel that Iask.AI helps them generate ideas, compose paragraphs, improve their use of language, and increase their writing speed. Iask.AI is considered easy to understand, easy to operate, and suitable for their academic writing needs. Students also show a positive attitude and a tendency to continue using Iask.AI in future assignments or academic writing. Nevertheless, students emphasized the importance of critically evaluating AI-generated content to maintain originality and academic integrity. This study specifically examines the use of Iask.AI as an academic writing tool within the context of English Language Education at Islamic higher education institutions and employs an in depth qualitative analysis grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model. While previous studies have largely focused on widely used AI tools such as ChatGPT or Grammarly, this research offers contextual insights into students’ perceptions, ethical awareness, and practical engagement with Iask.AI in academic writing Keywords: Student Perceptions, Iask.AI, Academic Writing, Artificial Intelligence, TAM
