Abstract

ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF USING FAN-N-PICK TECHNIQUE ON THE STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE AT SMK BHAKTI PEMUDA By: DWI PUTRI MAHARANI This study aims to determine the influence of using the Fan-n pick technique on the reading comprehension of 11th-grade students at SMK Bhakti Pemuda Lampung Selatan during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. This research employs a quantitative experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach on both the experimental and control classes. The population of this study consists of all 11th-grade students at SMK Bhakti Pemuda, totaling 75 students divided into three classes, with two classes selected as samples, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class was treated using the Fan-n-pick technique, while the control class used small group discussions guided by the teacher. Data collection was conducted through reading comprehension tests on hortatory exposition texts before and after the treatment. Statistical analysis results show a significant influence of applying the fan-n-pick technique on students' reading comprehension, proven by a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which is less than α = 0.05, thus accepting the alternative hypothesis. Additionally, the Fan-n-pick technique makes students more active, enthusiastic, and interested in the learning process because it integrates reading, writing, discussing, and presenting work results in an enjoyable and varied way.
