Abstract

ABSTRAK PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN APLIKASI EWA TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA SISWA KELAS VII SMPN 4 BANDAR LAMPUNG PADA SEMESTER PERTAMA TAHUN AJARAN 2025/2026 Keterampilan membaca membantu siswa memahami makna teks teks bahasa Inggris. Namun, banyak siswa kelas VII di SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami teks bacaan bahasa Inggris. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan aplikasi EWA terhadap keterampilan membaca siswa kelas VII di SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung pada tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-eksperimental. Pre-test dan post-test digunakan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Populasi terdiri dari seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung pada tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Sampel terdiri dari kelas VII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol, dengan total 66 siswa yang dipilih melalui sampling kluster. Hasil menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara skor membaca siswa sebelum dan setelah perlakuan. Analisis t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.000, yang lebih kecil dari 0.05, dengan nilai t sebesar 8.321. Oleh karena itu, Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi EWA memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan membaca siswa kelas VII di SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung. However, many seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung still face difficulties in comprehending English reading texts. Therefore, this research aimed to find out whether there is a significant the effect of using the EWA application on the reading skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung in the academic year of 2025/2026. This research used a quantitative method with a quasi experimental design. Pre-test and post-test were used as the research instruments. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung in the academic year of 2025/2026. The samples were class VII C as the experimental class and class VII B as the control class, with a total of 66 students selected through cluster sampling. The result showed a significant difference between students‟ reading scores before and after the treatment. The t-test analysis showed that the significance value was 0.000, which was lower than 0.05, with a t-value of 8.321. Therefore, Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It can be concluded that the use of the EWA application had a significant effect on the reading skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung.
