Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia's reading culture remains underdeveloped, negatively impacting students' knowledge acquisition. This problem is exacerbated by unattractive library resources and a widespread shift toward digital entertainment. Because reading comprehension is fundamental to English education and learning overall, innovative pedagogical approaches are urgently needed. Therefore, this study investigates the integration of the digital library "Let's Read" application into classroom learning as a technological intervention to enhance students' reading engagement and literacy skills. The purpose of this research was to determine if there is influence significant on students’ reading ability after using Let’s Read application in their reading lessons. This research used quantitative quasi-experimental design to determine the influence of using the Let’s Read application in teaching narrative text reading comprehension to ninth-grade students at MTS YAPSI Sumberjaya. This study involved 82 9th grade students divided into 3 classes, namely 9A, 9B, and 9C. With class 9A with 27 students as the experimental class and class 9C with 25 students as the control class. The research utilized a quasi-experimental design involving an experimental group and a control group. Both groups were assessed on their reading comprehension of narrative texts through pre-test and post-test measures. The intervention differed between the two groups: the experimental group used the Let's Read application as a learning support, whereas the control group was instructed through conventional teaching methods. Based on the independent sample t-test using SPSS, the significance value is <0.05, so the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significance influence of using Let’s Read application in teaching reading comprehension of narrative text at 9th grade MTS YAPSI Sumberjaya.
