Abstract

ABSTRACT ENHANCING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY BY USING FUN THINKERS AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL By: NOVIKA DHUHA This study aims to examine is the use of Fun Thinkers media can enhance the vocabulary mastery of fourth-grade students at SDN 3 Kaliawi Bandar Lampung during the 2024/2025 academic year. Vocabulary is a crucial component in language learning; however, many elementary students face difficulties in understanding word meanings, usage, and contextual application. To overcome these challenges, Fun Thinkers was implemented as an interactive, game based learning medium designed to actively engage learners and support vocabulary acquisition. The study employed a quasi experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group and a control group, comprising a total of 46 students. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed statistically through an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher post-test mean score (77.83) compared to the control group (70.65). The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed (Sig. > 0.05), and the homogeneity test yielded a significance value of 0.322 (> 0.05), confirming equal variance across groups. The independent samples t-test revealed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.045 < 0.05), indicating that the use of Fun Thinkers media had a positive and significant impact on students‟ vocabulary mastery. In conclusion, the integration of Fun Thinkers media supported by the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach effectively enhanced students‟ vocabulary mastery. These findings imply that Fun Thinkers media holds promise for further application or adaptation in developing other language skills and in broader educational contexts.
