Abstract

ABSTRAK PERGESERAN MAKNA BAHASA DALAM PERGAULAN GAMER ONLINE (Studi pada Komunitas Kiyai Legend) Oleh: Danang Wicaksono Penelitian ini mengkaji pergeseran makna bahasa dalam komunitas gamer online, dengan studi kasus pada Komunitas Kiyai Legend Lampung. Data primer diperoleh dari enam informan utama yang terdiri atas pendiri, pengelola, dan anggota aktif komunitas melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, serta dokumentasi. Data sekunder berupa literatur dan penelitian terdahulu turut digunakan untuk memperkuat analisis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi kasus, yang dipilih untuk menggali fenomena linguistik secara mendalam dalam konteks budaya digital. Dengan cara ini, penelitian mampu memberikan gambaran yang lebih komprehensif mengenai dinamika bahasa dalam ruang interaksi komunitas gamer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa istilah khas seperti gaskeun, noob, ggwp, ulti, dan ngefeed mengalami pergeseran makna, baik dari sisi semantik maupun pragmatik. Kata-kata yang semula dianggap bermakna negatif justru digunakan sebagai candaan, bentuk motivasi, dan simbol solidaritas antaranggota. Pergeseran ini dipengaruhi oleh faktor intensitas komunikasi digital, kebutuhan efisiensi, budaya kolektif komunitas, dan teknologi permainan yang mendorong interaksi cepat. Fenomena tersebut membuktikan bahwa bahasa tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat komunikasi, tetapi juga sebagai sarana pembentukan identitas sosial dan pengikat solidaritas kelompok. Dengan demikian, pergeseran makna bahasa mencerminkan pengaruh kuat budaya digital terhadap pola komunikasi modern. Dampak dari pergeseran bahasa ini adalah terbentuknya pola komunikasi yang lebih eksklusif, simbolik, dan dinamis di dalam komunitas. Bahasa yang muncul memperkuat solidaritas internal, tetapi menimbulkan kesulitan ketika dibawa keluar komunitas, khususnya terkait fenomena code-switching dengan masyarakat umum. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini menyarankan agar pengembang game dan platform digital menyediakan fitur moderasi bahasa, filter otomatis, serta panduan komunikasi sehat yang mudah diakses pemain. Saran ini diharapkan dapat membantu menciptakan ekosistemiii digital yang lebih positif, inklusif, dan beretika, sehingga pergeseran bahasa dalam komunitas gamer dapat menjadi kontribusi nyata bagi perkembangan budaya komunikasi digital yang sehat. Primary data were collected from six key informants, including the founder, manager, and active members, through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Secondary data from literature and previous studies were also employed to strengthen the analysis. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research aims to capture the dynamics of linguistic change within the context of digital culture. This method provides a comprehensive understanding of how language evolves in gamer interactions. The findings reveal that specific terms such as gaskeun, noob, ggwp, ulti, and ngefeed undergo semantic and pragmatic shifts in meaning. Words that were initially perceived negatively are often redefined as jokes, encouragement, or markers of solidarity within the community. These shifts are influenced by the intensity of digital communication, efficiency in interaction, the collective culture of the community, and the technological demands of online gaming. Thus, language is not only a communication tool but also a medium for shaping social identity and strengthening group solidarity. This illustrates the strong impact of digital culture on modern patterns of communication. The impact of these shifts is the creation of a communication pattern that is more exclusive, symbolic, and dynamic within the community. While this strengthens internal solidarity, it also creates challenges when the language is used outside the community, especially regarding code-switching in broader social contexts. Therefore, this study suggests that game developers and digital platforms should provide language moderation features, automatic filters, and accessible communication guidelines. Such measures are expected to foster a healthier, more inclusive, and ethical digital ecosystem, ensuring that language transformation within gamer communities contributes positively to the development of digital communication culture.
