Abstract
ABSTRAC KONSTRUKSI IDENTITAS BUDAYA GENERASI MUSLIM MILENIAL DALAM GAME MOBILE LEGENDS PERSPEKTIF HEGEMONI BUDAYA This study examines the construction of cultural identity among millennial Muslims in the Mobile Legends game amidst the dominance of global culture. Many players disregard foreign elements in the game and have begun to separate religious expression from digital activities. This issue reflects a shift in Islamic identity due to the hegemony of popular culture, which operates subtly through digital symbols and narratives. The purpose of this study is to understand how millennial Muslims display their cultural identity in digital interactions and to explain the process by which cultural hegemony influences the shift in their generation's Islamic values and identity. This study uses a qualitative method with a digital ethnography approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that Islamic identity is not always expressed symbolically, but through reflective attitudes, self-control, and time management. Their digital identities are formed adaptively through negotiations between Islamic values and popular culture, indicating both resistance and adjustment in the face of global cultural dominance in the digital space. Keywords: cultural identity, Muslim millennials, Mobile Legends, cultural hegemony, digital ethnography
