Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan representasi nilai kerja keras dalam novel "Negeri 5 Menara" karya Ahmad Fuadi melalui tinjauan analisis deskriptif. Secara spesifik, penelitian ini berupaya mengidentifikasi bagaimana nilai kerja keras direpresentasikan melalui karakterisasi tokoh, dialog/monolog, dan alur cerita dalam novel, serta mengkaji bagaimana konteks sosial melatarbelakangi penulisan novel tersebut. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang bagaimana nilai kerja keras dikonstruksi dalam karya sastra, relevansinya dalam konteks sosial dan pendidikan, serta menjadi bahan refleksi untuk upaya penanaman nilai karakter melalui medium literasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi pustaka dan analisis deskriptif. Teknik studi pustaka melibatkan pengumpulan informasi dari berbagai sumber tertulis yang relevan dengan topik penelitian, seperti novel itu sendiri, artikel, buku tentang teori sastra, dan jurnal penelitian terkait untuk membangun kerangka teoritis. Sementara itu, teknik analisis deskriptif melibatkan analisis menyeluruh terhadap teks novel dengan mengidentifikasi elemen elemen tertentu seperti tema, karakter, alur, dan nilai-nilai yang tertanam dalam cerita. Metode pengumpulan data ini mencakup membaca dan memeriksa bagian-bagian tertentu dari novel secara terperinci serta mencatat kutipan-kutipan penting. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa representasi nilai kerja keras dalam novel "Negeri 5 Menara" tergambarkan melalui tujuh bentuk manifestasi utama: pantang menyerah dalam menghadapi tantangan, semangat belajar yang transformatif, resiliensi terhadap kegagalan, optimisme terstruktur, keterlibatan dalam tugas kolaboratif, adaptasi terhadap lingkungan disiplin, serta visi jangka panjang dan mobilitas sosial. Nilai kerja keras ini tidak hanya bersifat individual tetapi juga kolektif, terintegrasi dengan nilai-nilai spiritual melalui filosofi "man jadda wajada" yang mengombinasikan niat ikhlas, usaha maksimal, doa, dan tawakal. Lingkungan pesantren (Pondok Madani) berperan signifikan dalam membentuk kerja keras para santri melalui sistem disiplin yang ketat, kultur kompetisi positif, dan peran mentor sebagai figur otoritas yang menginspirasi. ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the representation of the value of hard work in Ahmad Fuadi's novel “Negeri 5 Menara” through descriptive analysis. Specifically, this study seeks to identify how the value of hard work is represented through characterization, dialogue/monologue, and plot in the novel, as well as to examine the social context behind the writing of the novel. This study also aims to provide a deeper understanding of how the value of hard work is constructed in literary works, its relevance in social and educational contexts, and serve as a reflection for efforts to instill character values through literary mediums. This study uses data collection techniques through literature review and descriptive analysis. The literature review technique involves gathering information from various written sources relevant to the research topic, such as the novel itself, articles, books on literary theory, and related research journals to build a theoretical framework. Meanwhile, descriptive analysis involves a thorough analysis of the novel's text by identifying specific elements such as themes, characters, plot, and values embedded in the story. This data collection method includes reading and examining specific parts of the novel in detail and noting important quotations. The results of the study indicate that the representation of the value of hard work in the novel “Negeri 5 Menara” is depicted through seven main manifestations: never giving up in the face of challenges, a transformative spirit of learning, resilience in the face of failure, structured optimism, involvement in collaborative tasks, adaptation to a disciplined environment, and long-term vision and social mobility. These values of hard work are not only individual but also collective, integrated with spiritual values through the philosophy of “man jadda wajada,” which combines sincere intention, maximum effort, prayer, and trust in God. The boarding school environment (Pondok Madani) plays a significant role in shaping the hard work of the students through a strict disciplinary system, a culture of positive competition, and the role of mentors as inspiring authority figures.
