Abstract
Kata Kunci: Kucing, Ektoparasit ii ABSTRACT Cats (Felis catus) are mammals and true carnivores from the Felidae family. One of the problems that often plague cats is ectoparasite infestation. This study aims to determine the types of ectoparasites and the prevalence rate of ectoparasites that infect cats at UIN Raden Intan Lampung Campus. This research is a qualitative research with observation method. The sampling technique used was Accidental Sampling with 40 cat samples. Sample examination includes samples of fleas, ticks, and mites. The examination methods include skin scrapping, making preserved preparations, and ear swabs. The results showed that there were 5 types of ectoparasites that were successfully identified. The ectoparasites found were Felicola subrostratus, Ctenocephalides felis, Notoedres cati, Ctenocephalides canis, and Otodectes cynotis. The prevalence rates of ectoparasites in cats from highest to lowest were; F. subrostratus, C.felis, N. cati, C. canis and O. cynotis, 32,5%, 20%, 7,5%, 2,5%, dan 2,5% respectively. Keywords: Cats, Ectoparasites
