Abstract

Analisis regresi berganda menggunakan JASP 18.3 for Windows. ABSTRACT Romantic relationship violence (dating violence) has serious impacts on mental health, including psychological distress such as anxiety and depression. Self-compassion and coping strategies play a role in determining the level of distress experienced by victims. This study examines the relationship between self-compassion and coping strategies with psychological distress in young adults experiencing dating violence. This quantitative study involved 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Measurements were conducted using the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (α = 0.914), the Self-Compassion Scale (α = 0.881), and the Brief-COPE Scale (α = 0.869). Multiple regression analysis was performed using JASP 18.3 for Windows. The results showed a significant relationship between self compassion and coping strategies with psychological distress (R = 0.726, F = 56.903, p < 0.01). Self-compassion had a significant negative relationship with psychological distress (r = -0.672, p < 0.01), whereas coping strategies showed a significant positive relationship (r = 0.413, p < 0.01). Together, these variables explained 52.6% of the variance in psychological distress (R² = 0.526). These findings suggest that self-compassion acts as a protective factor against the negative effects of dating violence, while coping strategies influence the severity of psychological distress experienced by victims.
