Abstract

ABSTRACT Digital storytelling is a creative method of using multimedia elements like audio, video, and text to tell a story. Digital storytelling benefits for enhancing communication, engaging audiences, and fostering creativity and critical thinking. This research was aimed to know the influence of digital storytelling towards the students' narrative text writing in IX grade of SMPN 16 Bandar Lampung. The researcher focused on teaching writing narrative text by using digital storytelling even though there was another technique as comparison of digital storytelling. The method of research was quasi-experimental with two classes as experimental and control. The population of this research was 271 students in 9 classes. The samples of research were 61 students in 2 classes IX A as experimental class and IX E as control class. The sample was chosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The data were taken through pre-test and post-test. The instrument was writing narrative text. This research used SPSS to calculate the data of research by using Independent Sample t-test. Based on the research finding, it showed that in the independent sample t-test, that the value of significant generated Sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 < α = 0.05. So, Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Based on the computation, it can be concluded that there was significant influence of Digital storytelling towards students’ narrative writing ability at the ninth grade at SMPN 16 Bandar Lampung in the Academic Year of 2024/2025.
