Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were to analyse the types of liberal feminism in Wednesday Addams as the main character and analyze the causes of liberal feminism in Wednesday Addams as the main character. This research was the type of qualitative. The method of research was document analysis. The subject of this research was the main character in the Wednesday series namely Wednesday Addams. The data were taken through some procedures namely identification of relevant scenes, collection of dialogue and visual data, data coding based on the liberal feminism framework, linking data to the analysis table, data analysis and interpretation and conclusion based on data analysis. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman Theory namely data reduction, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the findings, it showed that the analysis of Wednesday‘s actions across various scenes in Wednesday reveals different types of liberal feminism, particularly Classical Liberal Feminism, Equality Feminism, and Radical Liberal Feminism. Through her defiance of traditional gender roles, self-reliance, and refusal to conform to societal expectations, Wednesday exemplifies the core values of liberal feminism, which advocates for gender equality, personal autonomy, and the breaking down of systemic barriers that limit women's opportunities. The causes explored throughout the analysis, such as Wednesday‘s resistance to forced therapy, rejection of romance, and her pursuit of justice, all serve as reflections of the different branches of liberal feminism. Her defiance against the pressures to conform to traditional femininity and her assertion of independence showcase her belief in equal rights for women and the freedom to choose one‘s destiny Keywords: Document Analysis, Liberal Feminism, Wednesday Series.
