Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine whether using Youtube had a significant influence on the vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 33 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2024/2025. Youtube is an application that used to entertain people, besides, it also can be used as a learning media especially at vocabulary mastery. This study used a quantitative approach with pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest. In this research, the population was 173 students in 5 classses. The number of samples were 35 students in the seventh grade at SMP Negeri 33 Bandar Lampung. The material used in this research was descriptive text. Data was obtained using before and after treatment. The students were given a pre-test of multiple choice questions test. Then, the students were given treatment by using Youtube video as learning media. The last, students were given post-test with the same material but in different questions. The data collected was the average score between the score of pre-test and post-test. Data had been analyzed using paired sample t-test through SPSS 16. From the data analyzed using SPSS 16, it was obtained that the Sig. = 0.000 with α = 0.05. It means Ha was accepted because Sig.< α. Therefore, the study showed that there was a significant influence of using Youtube on students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 33 Bandar Lampung in the Academic Year of 2024/2025.
