Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of the research to know the influence of Community Language Learning is a teaching method that emphasizes collaboration, where students support each other’s learning through conversation and emotional reinforcement. The Community Language Learning toward student speaking ability at the eight grade of SMPN 2 Terbanggi Besar. The researcher conducted an experimental research which was done in three meetings. The research method used Quasy-esperimental research. The population of this research is 228 students and the sample is 60 students in eight grades of SMPN 2 Terbanggi Besar. The treatment of this research used pre-test and post-test. The researcher was conducted collaboratively with the English teacher of SMPN 2 Terbanggi Besar. The result of this research show that Community Language Learning have positive result in influence the students’ speaking ability among the eight grades of SMPN 2 Terbanggi Besar. It can be proven by the students’ average score from pre-test to post-test. From the result of observation shows that student participation in the pre�test control class is 57.27 and pre test experimental class is 57.87. Meanwhile for the post-test control class is 69.93 and post-test experimental class is 71.40. The persentase mean of pre-test and post test control class is 22% and persentase mean of pre-test and post-test experimental class is 24%. It means that the using Community Language Learning method can influence the students’ speaking ability. Keyword: Community Language Learning, Learning method, Speaking Ability
