Abstract

ABSTRACT This research discusses the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PBL) model in the Merdeka Curriculum in learning to write recount texts in class X of SMK Al Huda Jati Agung. The background of this study is the students'' low writing skills and low interest in learning English. This research aims to find out how PBL is implemented in learning recount text and identify problems and solutions faced by teachers during implementation.This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, where the research subject is a grade X English teacher.The results showed that teachers experienced major constraints in time allocation during the implementation of PjBL. Teachers often struggled to organize sufficient time for project work, so some project activities had to be continued outside of class hours. Another factor causing time constraints was the lack of equipment brought by students, which resulted in delays in the process. In addition, the evaluation stage of the experience was often cut short due to the delayed project schedule. This time constraint is a significant weakness in the implementation of project-based learning model. project-based learning can be effectively applied in teaching recount text writing in grade X SMK. In this case, the students of class X Pharmacy 2 of SMK Al Huda Jati Agung showed an increase in written work that was above the minimum standard. The teacher was able to implement PjBL in accordance with the lesson plan, encourage two-way communication, and improve students'' activeness and critical thinking skills. These results show that the implementation of PjBL is beneficial in improving students'' recount text writing skills. Keywords: Project Based Learning; Writing Skill; Recount Text
