Abstract

Abstract The high divorce rate in Indonesia often has a significant impact on the mental wellbeing of children, particularly due to the absence of a father figure and emotional instability within the family. This study focuses on the impact of single mothers’ remarriage on children’s mental development from the perspective of maqa s id alsharī ʿah. The primary issue explored is how the presence of a stepfather influences the emotional, social, and intellectual stability of children in post-divorce families. The study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, involving in-depth interviews with six single mothers who have remarried in Negararatu Village, South Lampung. The findings reveal that the presence of a stepfather positively contributes to the reinforcement of religious values (h ifz addī n), emotional well-being (h ifz an-nafs), intellectual development (h ifz al-‘aql), family relations (h ifz an-nas l), and economic stability (h ifz al-ma l). From the perspective of maqa s id al-sharī ʿah, remarriage not only strengthens family structure but also supports the psychological recovery of children after divorce. The novelty of this study lies in integrating the maqa s id al-sharī ʿah framework with the modern family context to explain the role of stepfathers in enhancing children’s mental wellbeing holistically. Abstrak Tingginya angka perceraian di Indonesia sering kali berdampak signifikan pada kondisi mental anak-anak, khususnya akibat hilangnya figur ayah dan ketidakstabilan emosional di dalam keluarga. Penelitian ini berfokus pada dampak pernikahan kembali ibu tunggal terhadap perkembangan mental anak dalam perspektif maqa s id syariah. Masalah utama yang ditelaah adalah bagaimana kehadiran ayah tiri memengaruhi stabilitas emosional, sosial, dan intelektual anakanak di keluarga pascaperceraian. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain fenomenologi, melibatkan wawancara mendalam dengan enam ibu tunggal yang telah menikah kembali di Desa Negararatu, Lampung Selatan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kehadiran ayah tiri berkontribusi positif terhadap penguatan nilai agama (ḥifẓ ad-dīn), kesejahteraan emosional (ḥifẓ annafs), perkembangan intelektual (ḥifẓ al-‘aql), hubungan keluarga (ḥifẓ an-naṣl), dan stabilitas ekonomi (ḥifẓ al-māl). Dalam perspektif maqa s id syariah, pernikahan kembali tidak hanya memperkuat struktur keluarga, tetapi juga mendukung pemulihan psikologis anak pascaperceraian. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi pendekatan maqa s id syariah dengan konteks keluarga modern untuk menjelaskan pengaruh ayah tiri terhadap kesejahteraan mental anak secara holistik.
