Stated differently, writing facilitates nonverbal communication. This study aims to discover, recognize, and understand the different types of mechanical errors that are commonly found in advanced academic writing. An important and concise part of students' scientific work, the thesis abstract is the main focus of this study analysis. The thesis abstract was chosen because it demonstrates the students’ ability to clearly and concisely convey their findings. The analysis of various types of writing mechanics errors, including capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and word form errors. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method and document analysis to evaluate mechanical writing errors in undergraduate thesis abstracts from the English Education Department at UIN Raden Intan Lampung University from 2019 to 2023, concentrating on abstracts submitted by English Education graduates during this period. The major sampling method used in the study is quota sampling, which ensures a representative distribution across the study years. Specifically, 5% of all abstracts from each year are chosen using quota sampling procedures. After data was collected, the writer analyzed the errors through document analysis. This study found that English graduates from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Raden Intan face significant word form errors, with 104 identified cases. These include very common issues such as inconsistent tense usage, and singular and plural errors. There are also very common capitalization errors 87 cases, rarely occurring spelling errors involving homonyms 53 cases, and approximately 32 rarely occurring punctuation errors, which lead to misunderstandings. These findings indicate that targeted instruction can improve writing skills, and a broader sample from other faculties is recommended for a more comprehensive understanding of writing challenges.
