Abstract

ABSTRAK Kemampuan berpikir kritis yang tinggi penting bagi peserta didik untuk memunculkan gagasan baru terkait permasalahan pendidikan. Berpikir kritis dibutuhkan peserta didik untuk menentukan hipotesis, menganalisis masalah, dan mengevaluasi ide atau argumen. Berdasarkan hasil observasi menunjukkan guru belum optimal merancang pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik dan kurikulum, sehingga peserta didik kurang terlibat aktif dalam memecahkan masalah belajar dan kesulitan mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritisnya. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning dengan media pop-up book terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas VII di SMP Negeri 10 Pesawaran. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis eksperimen Quasy Eksperimental Design dengan jenis desain Pretest-posttest Control Group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas 2 kelas yaitu kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dengan media pop-up book dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran direct instruction. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang diperoleh dari uji hipotesis menggunakan uji independent sampel t-test thitung ≤ ttabel dengan α = 0,05 diperoleh hasil yaitu nilai sig 0,00 < 0,05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Artinya terdapat pengaruh dari model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan media pop-up book terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas VII di SMP Negeri 10 Pesawaran. Critical thinking is necessary for students to formulate hypotheses, analyze issues, and evaluate ideas or arguments. Based on observations, it appears that teachers have not optimally designed lessons that align with students' needs and the curriculum, resulting in limited student involvement in solving learning problems and difficulty in developing critical thinking skills. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model with pop-up book media on the critical thinking skills of class VII students at SMP Negeri 10 Pesawaran. The method used in this research is quantitative with an experimental type of Quasi-Experimental Design, specifically a Pretest-Posttest Control Group design. The population of the study consists of all class VII students, with sampling carried out using cluster random sampling. The sample includes two classes: Class VII A as the experimental group using the Problem-Based Learning model with pop-up book media, and class VII B as the control group using the direct instruction model. Data collection was performed using a critical thinking skills test. Based on data analysis obtained from hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test, with thitung ≤ ttabel and α = 0.05, the sig value was 0.00 < 0.05. This indicates that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. In other words, there is an effect of the Problem-Based Learning model with pop-up book media on the critical thinking skills of class VII students at SMP Negeri 10 Pesawaran.
