Abstract

ABSTRACT AN ANALYSIS OF REGISTER USED BY LIVESCORE FOOTBALL COMMENTATOR IN THE FINAL UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2024 By: Mikel Andi Rohman Register is the specialized vocabulary used by certain groups that has a certain meaning. In this research title, the researcher focused on analyzing register. The reason this research choose register, it’s because there are special and technical terms used in football commentator are only understood by certain people. This research aims at identifying the types of register and describing situation contexts of register that used by Livescore football commentator in the final UEFA Champions League 2024. This research employed a descriptive quanlitative method. The data of the research were all utterances that contain register used by Livescore football commentator in the final UEFA Champions League 2024. The instrument of this research the researcher used document analysis to obtain the data. The trustworthiness of data analysis was done through triangulation such as, discussing and analyzing the data with experts who were eligible and competent to the research. The data collecting technique in this research was document analysis that a research method applied to written or visual materials for identifying specified characteristics of the material. The findings of the research declare that there are 75 register items by Livescore football commentator in the final UEFA Champions League 2024. There are three form types of register namely as follows formal, consultative, and casual. Most of the register types are formal becomes the most prominent with the frequency of occurences of 36 items (48%), followed by register in the types of consultative with 32 items (32%), and register in the types of casual stays in the third position with 15 items (20%). This implies that formal type is the most prominent. Based on situation contexts of register, most of the situation contexts of register the field becomes the most prominent with the frequency of occurences of 55 items (73,3%), followed by register in the situation contexts of mode with 13 items (17,4%), and in the situation contexts of casual stays in the third position with 7 items (9,3%). This implies that field is the most prominent in the Livescore football commentator in the final UEFA Champions League 2024. Keywords: Analysis, Register, Football
