Abstract

Abstrak Kemampuan matematis merupakan aspek penting dalam pendidikan. Namun, kemampuan matematis siswa SMP saat ini masih tergolong rendah, sehingga memerlukan analisis mendalam terkait faktor psikologis seperti Adversity Quotient (AQ). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh AQ terhadap kemampuan penalaran, komunikasi, dan koneksi matematis siswa SMP. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif Structural Equation Model Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) pada sampel tiga kelas siswa SMPN 1 Natar. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa AQ dan kemampuan penalaran tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis. Namun, keduanya berpengaruh signifikan secara tidak langsung melalui kemampuan komunikasi matematis sebagai variabel mediasi penuh. Pembelajaran disarankan berfokus pada penguatan komunikasi matematis dan daya juang siswa. Abstract Mathematical ability is a crucial aspect of education; however, the current achievement of junior high school students remains sub-optimal, necessitating a deep analysis of psychological factors such as Adversity Quotient (AQ). This quantitative study aims to examine and analyze the influence of AQ on junior high school students’ mathematical reasoning, communication, and connection skills. Utilizing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), the research sample comprised three classes at SMPN 1 Natar. The results indicate that AQ and mathematical reasoning skills do not have a significant direct effect on mathematical connection skills. However, both variables exert a significant indirect effect through mathematical communication skills as a full mediator. Therefore, mathematics instruction is recommended to focus more on strengthening students’ mathematical communication and resilience.
