Abstract

Kata kunci: learning loss, hasil belajar, pandemi COVID-19, Benua Amerika, systematic review, meta-analisis ABSTRACT The pandemic caused significant disruptions in the education system, resulting in a shift from in-person learning to online learning. This transition triggered a considerable decline in student learning outcomes, referred to as learning loss. This research aims to analyze the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on learning loss and educational outcomes in the Americas during and after the pandemic through a systematic review methodology. In this study, eight relevant scholarly articles were collected and analyzed to assess the extent to which the pandemic affected learning outcomes across various countries in the Americas. A meta-analytic approach was employed to calculate the effect size of the obtained data, thereby allowing for a more detailed mapping of the impact of learning loss. The findings indicate that the pandemic significantly affected learning outcomes in the Americas, both during and after the pandemic. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that learning levels during the pandemic were lower compared to the post-pandemic period. This decline in educational performance resulted in a heightened level of learning loss during the pandemic compared to the period thereafter. This highlights the increasing challenges in the recovery of the education system and underscores the necessity for effective and sustained interventions to support educational recovery throughout the region. Keywords: learning loss, academic achievement, COVID-19 pandemic, Americas, systematic review, meta-analysis
