Abstract

ABSTRACT Listening is one of activity in English aspect to comprehension the language based on the audio or listening activity. Students’ habit in listening to English English podcasts is an activity that provides positive feedback on learning English. Vocabulary mastery refers to how teacher teach students a list of words and their definitions. students will understand the meaning of language in context if we have it and master it. The first issue is that students have a motivation to learn English. The second issue is that students have an interest and feel the essence of listening an English podcast to master their vocabulary mastery. Also some people assume that there is the relationship between students’ habit in listening to English podcast and their vocabulary mastery. Because of this issue, the researcher conducts a study entitled “The Correlation Between Students’ Habit in Listening to Podcast and Their Vocabulary Mastery of Eleventh Grade Students at SMK N 4 Bandar Lampung”. This research aimed to find the correlation between student’s habit in listening to podcast and their vocabulary mastery. The writer used quantitative method and categorized the research as correlational research. The researcher used Purpossive Sampling Technique in taking the sample and got two class there are XI AKL 2 and XI AKL 3 which was consisted of 54 students. This study took place from November 11, 2022 and November 17, 2022. In collecting the data, the writer used habit in listening questionnaire and vocabulary mastery test. To prove the hypothesis the writer used Pearson Product Moment formula. The analysis of hypothesis found that r_count (0.458)> r_table (0.263). It meant that there was a positive and moderate correlation between students’ habit in listening to podcast and their vocabulary mastery. Based on the data analysis of hypothesis the writer found that the significant F change was 0.000 which lower than 0.05. It indicated that habit in listening to podcast and vocabulary mastery had a positive and moderate correlation. Based on the computation of the hypotheses, the writer got the result that H_a was accepted. It indicated that there was a moderate correlation between habit in listening to podcast and vocabulary mastery which meant that high habit in listening to podcast would be followed by excellent vocabulary mastery.
