Abstract

ABSTRACT Writing skills of the learners especially for senior high school were having a problem in making a good paragraph. The students still have difficulty in writing a text, especially in descriptive text. This research aimed to know whether there was a significant influence of using the PPP method through video learning on students' writing ability in descriptive text in the second semester of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 17 Bandar Lampung. This research used a quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 17 Bandar Lampung. The sample was taken from two classes XI Science 1 as experimental class and XI Science 2 as control class. In collecting the data, the writer used instruments pre-test and post-test. After giving the post-test, the writer analyzed it by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). From the analysis, it was found that the result of sig. (2- tailed) of the equal variance was 0.000 and α = 0.05. Ha is accepted if sig. (ρvalue) < α = 0.05 and Ho is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the PPP method through video learning had a significant influence on the students of eleventh-grade students of SMAN 17 Bandar Lampung. This finding used by the English teachers as a good method and suitable for the students to share their ideas and help them to interested in writing a text.
