Abstract

ABSTRACT THE CORRELATION BETWEEN READING INTEREST ON STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION IN THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE TEN GRADE AT SMA N 13 BANDAR LAMPUNG IN ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2021/2022 The objective of the research is to know whether there is any correlation between reading interest on students reading comprehension at SMA 13 Bandar Lampung. In this research, the researcher would use correlation research. Correlation research is the relationship of two variables or more that are studied without any attempt to influence them. Correlation research is also sometimes referred to as a form of descriptive research because it describes an existing relationship between two variables. So the research would only focused on whether there is correlation between students reading interest and students reading comprehension. The result of the data analysis shows that there is a significant correlation between students interest and reading comprehension of SMA N 13 Bandar Lampung. It can be inferred that in order to increase the students reading comprehension, the teacher can focused on improving students interest in the first place. As describe in the previous chapter, reading is the construction of meaning from printed or written message. Construction of meaning involves the readers connecting information from the writer massage previous knowledge to arrive at the meaning. Keyword :Comprehension, correlation, interest,reading
