Abstract

Abstrak THE INFLUENCE OF USING CONTENT-PURPOSE AUDIENCE (CPA) STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITIN NARRATIVE TEXT AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTSOF SMPN 05 BANDAR LAMPUNG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021 By Fari Dotun Nikmah The objective of this research was to know whether there is a significant influence of using Content-Purpose-Audience (CPA) strategy toward students ability in writing narrative text at the eighth grade students of SMPN 5 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2020/2021. Content-Purpose-Audience (CPA) Strategy is one strategy in teaching writing. This strategy will help the students to organize the idea and developing the idea about the topic. Students’ writing ability in narrative text is the students’ ability to compose or produce a text by retelling a story in th epast that purpose to entertain the readers and give moral value to the readers. The research methodology used pre-experimental research design.The population of this research was the eighth grade of SMPN 5 Bandar Lampung. Cluster random sampling has been used by the research to select the sample and the sample of this research was VIII H as the experimental class, consists of 31 students. In collecting the data, the researcher managed written test as the instrument with the topic about fable narrative text. There was pre-test that held before the treatment and post-test that was held after the treatment. The researcher anlyzed the data using paired sample test. Based on the analysis of the data calculation on hyphothetical test, where is the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Hₒ) was rejected. It is presented by the result of paired sample test where was 32.974 and was 2.042. It means, is higher than . Thus, it can be concluded that there was influence ii of using Content-Purpose-Audience (CPA) strategy toward students’ ability in writing narrative text.
