Abstract

ABSTRACT In language learning, especially English, we recognize four skills namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. Listening skill is considered as the basic skill that needs to be improved since it provides the aural input that serves as the basis for language acquisition and enables learners to interact in spoken in communication. Listening is the activity with comprehension, attention and appreciation, then listening needs intergrating skill oflanguage, such as pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, writing, speaking and reading. Listening to the English song means that the listeners appreciate the lyrics, rhythm, vocal and melody and try to nderstand the meaning. Relating to the vocal and rhythm contain in English songs, the researcher can assume that it can be used as a medium to teach pronunciations to the students. This research is dealed to find out the correlation between students‟ ablity in listening to the English songs and their pronunciation mastery. This research was conducted by using correlation quantitative research method. 36 students‟ of eleventh grade at the first semester academic year 2020/2021 were taken as the sample of this research by product moment sampling. The instrument to collect the data of this research were test which contained 20 test of collect the data of listening test and 40 test to collect pronunciation score students. From the result of the hypothetical test was 0.698 , Sig (Pvalue) for pronunciation mastery was .157, Sig (Pvalue) for ability in listening to the English songs wa .140. because Sig (Pvalue) of pronunciation and listening ability song higher than 0,05. It means that H0 accepted where te conclusion of this research is that there is a correlation between students‟ ability in listening to the Enlish songs andtheir pronunciation mastery at the first semester of the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Seputih Agung Central of Lampung in the academic year of 2020/2021.
