Abstract

ABSTRACK THE CORRELATION BETWEN STUDENS’ READING COMPREHENSION AND THEIR SPEAKING ABILITY IN PROCEDURE TEXT AT ELEVENTH GRADE OF SMK N 01 BLAMBANGAN UMPU IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2023/2024 By : Ana Barokatul Azizah The thesis entitled The Correlation Between Students‗ Reading Comprehension And Students‗ Speaking Ability in Procedure Text At Second Semester Of The Eleventh Grade Of SMK N 1 Blambangan Umpu In The Academic Year Of 2023/2024. Reading comprehension is the ability to understand text and its meaning. The program relies on the ability to read symbols and understand the meaning of words and sentences. Reading comprehension is a complex technique or process in which readers have a great function in making that means from the text. Reading provides writers with knowledge of the language of writing, the grammar, vocabulary, and discourse style writers use. Speaking ability is the students’ ability in expressing their ideas orally which is represented by the scores of speaking. Speaking ability is the students’ ability in expressing their ideas orally which is represented by the scores of speaking. Speaking is only an oral trail of abilities that it got from structure and vocabulary, speaking ability more complex and difficult than people assume, and speaking study like study other cases in study of language, naturalize many case to language teachers.. The research methodology used in this study is correlational research. The population of this study was all eleventh-grade students at SMK N 1 Blambangan Umpu. There were only 31 students taken as the sample of this study. The sample was determined by using the cluster random sampling technique. Furthermore, in collecting the data researcher has used a test to decade the reading comprehension and a speaking ability in prosedure text. For analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS 25. The findings of this study show there is a significant correlation between students‗ reading comprehension and students‗ speaking ability in procedure text at second semester at the eleventh grade of SMK 1 Blambangan Umpu in the Academic year of 2023/2024. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was obtained Ha was accepted with generated Sig (Pvalue) = 0.000 < ɑ = 0.05. This means there was a significant correlation between students’ reading comprehension and students’ speaking ability in procedure text at second semester at the eleventh grade of SMK N 1 Blambangan Umpu in the Academic year of 2023/2024.
