Abstract

ABSTRACT AN ANALYSIS OF EDUCATIONAL VALUES IN “THE GOOD DINOSAUR” MOVIE By: DINAR WALIDAINI SEKAR PUTRI The purpose of this research was to know the types of educational values which contain in The Good Dinosaur movie. Language is a tool to communicate to each other. To make beginner understand about English, they must use media to learn. Movie is chosen to be analyzed the importance of educational values as a part of our life. There are two research problems proposed in The Good Dinosaur movie, the first problem is about educational values in movie used The Ministry of National Education theory and the second problem is the benefits of watching it. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method to describe and analyze the educational values which are taken from the script. The researcher analyzed the data by one according to The Ministry of National Education theory of educational values. The primary instrument of this research is the researcher herself as the key instrument since this research is analyzing the movie, while the supporting instrument is the script of The Good Dinosaur movie. The researcher also used two tables as instruments to classify the educational values. The first table was to analyze the educational values found in the dialogue and the second table was to analyze the educational values found in the fragment. After analyzing the data, the researcher found types of educational values in The Good Dinosaur movie are responsibility with 8 dialogues, hard work with 2 dialogues and 1 fragment, appreciate achievement with 2 dialogues and 1 fragment, curiosity with 1 dialogue and 2 fragments, friendly with 2 dialogues, creative with 1 fragment, and honest with 1 dialogues. There are 7 types of educational values in The Good Dinosaur movie based on The Ministry of National Education’s theory. Furthermore, the benefits of watching The Good Dinosaur movie are medium of education, source of inspiration, medium of entertainmen. Keywords: Educational Values, Movie, Benefits of Movie.
