Abstract

ABSTRACT Writing is one of the English skills that must be master by English learners. Writing is completely different skill than listening, reading, and speaking. The purpose of this research to know whether there is any influence of using Instagram Caption towards Students’ Writing Ability in Recount Text at the First Semester of the Tenth Grade of SMA YP UNILA Bandar Lampung in the Academic Year 2022/2023. Based on the preliminary research, it showed that students’ writing ability in Recount Text was still low. Some issues was found by the researcher such as: the students feel hard to organize the idea, besides, the students do not interest in writing recount text. In this research, the researcher used Quantitative Approach with Quasi-Experimental design. The meeting was held in three meetings and 90 minutes for each meeting. The sample of this research was chosen by Cluster Random Sampling. X MIPA 7 as the Experimental Class and X MIPA 8 as the Control Class. In collecting the data, the researcher used writing test that were pre-test and post-test. The tests were write recount text. After giving post-test, the researcher analyzed the data by using Independent Sample T-Test. The result showed that p < α which means that 0,000 < 0,05. So it proved that Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It can be conclude that there was an impact of using Instagram Caption towards students’ writing ability in Recount Text at the first semester of the tenth grade of SMA YP UNILA Bandar Lampung in the academic year of 2022/2023.
