Abstract

ABSTRACT This research discusses about Code Mixing. The objectives of this research are to find out 1) The types of code mixing that find in Ernest Prakasa’s tweet, 2) The reasons of Ernest Prakasa use code mixing in Twitter based on Bhatia and Ritchie’s theory. The research on this thesis was carried by using descriptive qualitative. The data were taken from Ernest Prakasa’s Twitter account. The results of this research based on Hoffman’s theory show that were two types of code mixing such as intra-lexical code mixing and intra-sentential code mixing. This research also found the reasons of Ernest Prakasa use code mixing in Twitter based on Bhatia and Ritchie’s theory they participant roles and relationship, situational factors, message-intric factors, and language, attitude, dominance, and security. This research was expected to provide an introduction about the code mixing for the people who read the research. Keywords: Code Mixing, Twitter, Ernest Prakasa
