Abstract

ABSTRACT INCREASING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH THREE PHASES TECHNIQUE AT THE SECOND SEMESTER OF THE TENTH GRADE OF SMAPRIMA KOTABUMI IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2019/2020 By: Indah Selvia Putri This research improves students' vocabulary mastery by three-phase technique at the tenth grade of SMA Prima Kotabumi. It was focused on students' vocabulary and the use of the three-phase technique. This research aims to findout whether there is any improvement in students' vocabulary mastery after being taught by the three-phase technique. In this research, the researcher used classroom action research as a research design held in two cycles. The research subject was the students of X MIPA 2, which consisted of 33 students of the tenth grade of SMA Prima in the second semester. In this research, the instruments are vocabulary tests and observation sheets. The improvement of students' vocabulary is analyzed by comparing scores from each cycle and the percentage of a high score. Furthermore, in this study, the minimum score of the students is 75. Based on the result, the student's vocabulary mastery improved from 30% in the first cycle to 85% in the second cycle. Therefore, the three�phase technique is an excellent technique to enhance the students' vocabulary mastery. Keywords: Vocabulary Mastery, Three Phases Technique, Classroom Action Research.
