Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of technological innovation and public awareness on energy consumption behavior from an Islamic business perspective among UMKM in Bandar Lampung City. The increasing national energy consumption, which is projected to reach 430 TWh by 2024, coupled with the low level of public awareness regarding efficient energy use, is the primary background to this research. This situation necessitates an in-depth study of the factors influencing energy consumption behavior, particularly from an Islamic business perspective, which emphasizes the principle of benefit (maslahah), the prohibition of israf (waste), and human responsibility as a vicegerent (khalifah) on earth. This study employed quantitative methods with primary data obtained through questionnaires. The study population included UMKM in Bandar Lampung City, with a sample size of 100 respondents determined through purposive sampling using the Slovin formula. Data processing was performed using SmartPLS version 4 software. The results indicate that technological innovation and public awareness have a significant partial effect on energy consumption behavior. Simultaneously, technological innovation and public awareness have a significant effect on energy consumption behavior. From an Islamic business perspective, these two variables are in line with the principle of prohibiting israf and tabdzir and the obligation of humans as caliphs to manage natural resources wisely and sustainably. Keywords: Technological Innovation, Public Awareness, Energy Consumption Behavior, UMKM, Islamic Business Perspective.
